Alert description
The vehicle gateway (GTW) has not received an expected system status message from the primary Electronic Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS3P) electronic control unit (ECU) via the controller area network (CAN) within the required time period, indicating the EPAS3P ECU may be unavailable and power steering may be limited or unavailable.
Potential impact
Power steering and Autopilot features depending on EPAS3P, including Autosteer, may be limited or unavailable.
Set condition
The GTW does not receive the system status CAN message from EPAS3P ECU during 5 consecutive message cycles (for 50ms) while the vehicle is in Drive.
Clear condition
The GTW receives the system status CAN message from EPAS3P ECU as expected. Clears automatically when the vehicle exits Drive, and may be resolved completely (does not set again) when starting the next drive cycle.
